The tool splits on newline characters (\n) only and joins the sorted result with the same separator. With “Remove empty lines” on (the default), rows that are empty or only whitespace are dropped before sorting; turn it off to keep and sort those lines too.
When enabled, digit sequences inside lines are compared as numbers (e.g. item2 before item10). When off, digits are compared like ordinary text.
With case sensitivity off, letters that differ only by case sort together like a dictionary ignoring case. With it on, uppercase and lowercase letters can change ordering relative to each other.
Only exact whole-line matches after sorting: two lines must be identical character-for-character. It does not merge lines that differ by case or spacing.
